Dr Blake Knapman is an Obstetrician, Gynaecologist & Laparoscopic Surgeon who is dedicated to achieving excellence in women’s health.
Born and raised in Gunnedah, Dr Knapman moved to Sydney where he obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science in Diagnostic Radiography, a Bachelor Medicine & Surgery and dual Masters in Reproductive and Women’s Health Medicine from the universities of Sydney, Notre Dame and New South Wales respectively. Following Internship and Residency at Prince of Wales Hospital, he completed specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal Hospital for Women where he developed expertise in the management of “all-risk” obstetrics.
In addition to his specialist training, and in preparation for a return to regional practice, Dr Knapman has undertaken separate two-year fellowships in both medical imaging and minimally invasive surgery. He obtained certification in advanced laparoscopy and hysteroscopic surgery from the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy & Surgery Society (AGES) under the tutelage of Professor Jason Abbott. This experience has equipped him with expertise in the medical and surgical management of endometriosis and other gynaecological conditions within a patient-centred framework. Understanding the importance of high-quality ultrasound in women’s health, Dr Knapman has completed a Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound from the Australasian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) while working in women’s health ultrasound at the Royal Hospital for Women.
Dr Knapman returns to our region with his wife (Jess) who is a registered nurse and midwife who was also trained at the Royal Hospital for Women and will join him in his private practice. Having both been raised on farms within our region, they understand the unique challenges that regional women face when seeking healthcare and bring a friendly and down-to-earth approach to their work that sets their patients immediately at ease.
